Why Do I Buy New Clothes For This Girl

Last night Matt brought home a box of clothes from work. A co-worker of his saw a picture of Nolan and said, "Hey I have a box of newborn clothes from our son, I will bring them in!" So thoughtful! We went through the box and it is full of great newborn clothes for Nolan and clothes we can share with others too. Well this morning Rylee was extremely excited to see the box and she started pulling out the clothes. I was making dinner and the next thing I new she had taken her outfit for the day off and replaced it with the one in the picture. The shorts are a NEWBORN size, yes newborn. Nolan has outgrown newborn clothes! The shirt in a 0-3 onesie that she got one of the snaps done up on even. Yes it is pulled very tight, but still what two and a half year old can snap 0-3 onesies! Then I started thinking, why have I even bought her new clothes, I bet I could pull out her 6-12 month winter clothes and they would fit for this winter. She is so cute and petite!

More Alert Everyday

Nolan is staying awake more and more each day. Today he took two naps and was awake much of the morning and this evening. His eyes are starting to focus on things and he definitely recognizes his Mom and Dad.

Nolan's Photo Shoot

Last week we took Nolan to get his pictures taken, and the photographer did an awesome job. She took so many pictures, it was hard to narrow them down. We ordered most of them in black and white or sepia, but until she finishes touching them up, most of them are only available in color. These are just a few of the pictures that she took--we cannot wait to get the actual pictures this Thursday

Jayden's Birthday Party

This morning we were invited out to Cousin Jayden's for his birthday party. The kids had fun playing together again. Rylee wanted to help Jayden open his presents, and luckily he was willing to have a little help. Jay got the same laptop that Rye got for Christmas, as you can see by the picture all three kids wanted to play with it! Aunt Karlie made a cute pirate hat cake and yummy soup for everyone. We all had a great time. Oh and the other picture is just Rylee being silly Rylee!

More Jumping Fun

On Wednesday we went to Jump On It again, and Rylee had a blast. She was much less timid this time around. Aunt Karlie and the kids came with us this week and it was fun to have them too. Rylee's friend from up the street, Cohen, was there too. The two of them had so much fun running from one trampoline to the next. They just made us laugh as they would run and crash on the tramp, and then just laugh at each other.

Nolan's 1 Month

As we look back over the last month so much has happened, but I still cannot believe he is one month old. He has started being awake a lot more during the day with one big morning nap and a big afternoon nap. This is good because he sleeps better at night, but it is hard because Rylee thinks he need to play with her when he is awake. Rylee does not quite understand that Nolan cannot build towers with the blocks quite yet! He is starting to fill out some of his 0-3 month clothes already, which is quite different than Rylee who wore 0-3 clothes until she was 5 months old. We had pictures taken of him and Rylee the other day and should be getting them soon, so we will post them shortly.

Uncle Jeff

Jeff conveniently had to come into town for work this week, and we were so excited he stopped by to see us this evening. He and Rylee had a great time playing soccer, blocks, and tickles! Once Rylee was in bed, Uncle Jeff took a chance to get to know Nolan for the rest of the evening.

Sweet Sleeping Baby

The Potty Watch

Rylee is doing so great with her potty training, but gets so side tracked when she plays or friends are over, so I found the solution - The Potty Watch. You can set the timer every 30, 60 or 90 minutes and it plays various fun songs as a reminder to go to the bathroom. We used it all day today and had no accidents, so we hope it works as well tomorrow too.

Our Swing Snob

Aunt Erica nicknamed Megan the Swing Snob when she was a baby, and Nolan has become ours. He loves to be in the swing. It is helpful for me like the bouncy seat, but even better because Rylee cannot get to him. She does like to push the buttons and all of the sudden Nolan is swinging on high instead of low, but he never seems to complain.

Special Visitor at Gymnastics

We went to gymnastics today, and Rylee had a special visitor come for the first time: Daddy! He got away from the office for a bit today, and it was so fun to have him there. Rylee had a great time showing off for her Daddy, and Daddy had fun helping his little girl.

Two Handsome Boys

These two boys are about 7 weeks apart and I cannot believe that Nolan will be that big so soon! Baby Luke and Nolan met for the first time today, and hopefully they will be as good of buddies as the other kids!

A Fun Wednesday

We have been trying to get out once a day to do something together, but since there is so much snow we have to come up with new things to do. At Church on Sunday I was talking to a neighbor and she told me about a fun "Mommy and Me" class, so we thought we would try it out. Rylee and I had a great time jumping on the trampolines together, she ran circles in the bounce houses, and went down the slide with her friends. Nolan was a trooper, he drank his own bottle and then slept the entire time.
After the class we went to Story Time with Avery, Hank and Baby Luke. Rylee was into story time and the "animal parade" until she saw Baby Luke. From then on she sat next to him and made sure he was okay.

His Favorite Seat

Nolan loves the bouncy chair and that has really come to help me out! He is so content in it. He has started to want to wiggle now, so we aren't swaddling him as much. He likes to look at the toys that dangle down, but mostly he just like to kick and squirm while sitting in it.

Three Little Monkeys

Aunt Karlie, Uncle Dan and the kids came down on Saturday too. The kids did really well playing together all day. We were trying to keep them under control while Grandpa and the Daddies were out getting dinner, so we gave them all a banana and had them sit on the wall and eat them. It was cute to watch the three of them sit there and devour the banana's together.

Papa Rick

Grandma Kathi, Uncle Scott and Papa Rick all came to visit for the day on Saturday, and we all had so much fun. They were in Colorado moving Scott into his new dorm room and decided that they were this close they should come the rest of the way. Grandpa Rick and Uncle Scott had not met Nolan yet, so they were very excited. Papa Rick and Nolan hung out for about six hours straight Saturday morning and early afternoon, I hope both of them got a good fix until Papa comes back in February.

Excited for Play Date

Last night Cyd called and offered to take Rylee on a play date with Hank and Avery. This morning when she woke up I explained to her that she would be going with Hank and his Mommy this afternoon, and she went straight to the bathroom and was demanding a bath so she could get ready to go. I tried to explain it was going to be a little while before they came to pick her up, but she was too excited to understand. We took our time getting ready, played some games, ate breakfast and a snack, and then they showed up. When they knocked on the door Rylee popped up from the floor and started running to the front door, it was really cute. I opened the door and she walked straight out to Cyd, turned around and gave me a casual bye-bye mommy, and off she went. They should be home soon so I will update how it went later!

Time With Tay -Tay

Rylee has had so much fun playing with Tay-Tay and family the past few days. Taylor and Kynna keep requesting us to come back and hang out more, but we will give them a break for a few days. Taylor helped Rylee at gymnastics yesterday. We don't have pictures of gymnastics, because Rye was so sleepy she was not that into it yesterday. Kynna did a great job with Nolan yesterday. She fed him a bottle and held him for an hour and half, and even put him to sleep! The girls are awesome with their "best friends," both my kids are so lucky to have such good people to look up to and have as examples.

A Real Bath

Nolan's belly button is all healed up, so that means no more sponge baths! This morning I gave Rylee her bath and then she helped me give Nolan a bath. He seemed to enjoy the baby tub much more than he did sponge baths, hopefully he will enjoy bath time as much as Rylee still does!

2 Weeks

Yesterday we did a little photo-shoot with Nolan and we got some cute pictures. The slide show is mostly for Grandmas because to everyone else the pictures will all look the same, but Grandmas can tell a difference.

He had his two week check up today and is growing quickly. He weighed 8 lbs. 15 1/2 ounces, not quite 9 lbs (56th percentile). He was 20 1/2 inches long (43rd percentile), and his head was in the 85th percentile. The doctor started him on Prevacid today, so hopefully that will help his tummy out a bit. They did his second PKU test and Rylee was extremely worried about Nolan while they were doing it, it did take almost 20 minutes to collect the blood on the form. Other than that he is a healthy and happy baby!

2 Week Comparison

At first we didn't think these two looked alike, but in just two short weeks things have changed! :)

Grandma and Papa

Granmda Kathi left Tuesday, but that night Grandma and Papa got in town. We have enjoyed having them here, and Rylee has played more blocks with Papa then you could imagine. Papa and Rylee have even came up with some fun new games to play, it has been so fun to watch. Grandma has been lots of help with Rylee and Nolan, I have been so lucky, but it is back to real life tomorrow when they leave. The other night we were getting some pictures of Grandma and Papa with Nolan and Rylee wanted to take pictures of them too. We have had lots and lots of fun the past two weeks with all of our company, and we are excited for everyone to come back in February.
