9 Month Check-Up

I cannot believe she is nine months already. I remember when I scheduled her nine month check up it amazed me, and now it has already come and gone and we have scheduled her 1 year check up. The appointment went really well. She is very healthy and extremely happy the doctor said. She is reaching all of her developmental milestones and she is ahead of schedule on her fine motor skills and her vocalization, we are going to have a chatter box. I know many of you might think she topped the scales with all those rolls, but she was only 17 pounds 15 ounces (34th percentile). The doctor also told me she wouldn't crawl until she had another growth spurt length-wise because right now she is 25.8 inches (ONLY the 3rd percentile) and her body is too heavy for her to support. She got her iron levels checked and they are a little low, so she has to have meat twice a day now. I asked him about moving her to the new car-seat and he said her weight and length are still within the limits of the infant carrier, but since her torso is so long she needs to move into the big girl one. She only had to have one shot today, polio, but that one shot was VERY traumatic, I don't think she took a breath for 10 seconds. The only "bad" news was that he doesn't think she will be 20 pounds by the time she is 1, and he said we can't turn her front-facing in her car seat until she is 20 pounds, we will have to see about that! All in all, we have a very happy, healthy, and extremely silly baby. She is napping right now, so pictures to come later! - k

Playing with Daddy Video

If you like the pictures then you'll love the video. Oh and sorry for the dishwasher noise in the background, I did not realize how LOUD it was. - k

Playing with Daddy

Rylee and Daddy have had a fun afternoon playing together. Daddy made up a new game where he sets a toy on top of the stacker and Rylee knocks it off, she loves it. The naked baby in the pictures was dressed, but made a bit of a mess at lunch. - k

Standing

While Rylee has NO interest in crawling she loves to stand up. Yesterday I decided I would see if she could stand without our help, so I propped her against the couch and she did great. She does not pull herself up yet, but if we stand her up she is a very good stander. Since she is taking an interest in standing, we think she might walk before she ever crawls, silly little girl! - k

Playful

All Rylee has wanted to do today is play, which is fine with me because she has been so cute. She has just smiled and talked to me all day. She is learning how to throw things and she thinks she is so funny when she does it. She will throw a toy look at it, then look at me and then look back at the toy with this look like "well aren't you going to get that for me." I love how interactive and fun she is getting every day. - k

Soccer Weekend

Rylee, Matt and I had a weekend full of soccer. While I was coaching, Rylee got to play with Matt and the two of them had lots of Daddy/Daughter time this weekend. With the weather in the 90's everyday, Rylee was loaded up with the sunblock and had her own portable shade. Rylee has also made a new best friend, Clara. Clara's older sister is on my team and Clara just loves Rylee, it is really cute to watch them play together. Rylee was a trooper all weekend and I think she is happy to be home now.

The Park Again

Another day in the 70's meant we got to go to the park again. This time we went with some friends and Rylee just hung out in the swing. - k

Walker

Rylee got a new toy last week and she loves it. She has not figured out the whole walking thing, but she loves talking to the toys, looking in the mirror, and banging her other toys on the tray. - k

Two Pacifiers

She decided she needed one for each hand, Cousin Bryce did you teach her this???? - k

Found My Toes

For awhile we never thought this would happen because Rylee's belly was so big and her legs were so little, but somehow she has still found her toes! She makes me laugh as she rolls around the floor talking to herself and pulling on her feet. - k

The Swing

We got to soccer practice about 30 minutes early today, and lucky for me they had a swing. It was Rylee's first time on the swing and from her reaction it will not be her last. - k

More Sunshine

I think Rylee likes to be outside. Today she got to go on a run with me, versus being left in a stroller while I ran yesterday. We had a great time on our run. She talked to me and her toys, kicked her little feet, flapped her arms, and threw her toys out of the stroller. We already have a walk planned for tomorrow, I think she will love it too. - k

Cute Outfit

I don't know if this ever happens to you, but when we were given this outfit we thought it was really cute and then we put it on and it was SO adorable. She looked so cute in her spring outfit all day. It was one of those days where people were telling me how cute she is and they hadn't even seen her face. Thank you for the cute outfit Grandma and Grandpa. - k

Outside Finally

It has finally warmed up enough that Rylee and I can go outside. For some reason, I have convinced myself it would be a good idea to get in shape and play soccer again this summer, right now I am wondering what I was thinking (every muscle in my body hurts). So today, I put Rye in the stroller and we went to the park so I could run. It was so funny, every time I would start a new sprint away from her she would scream, and then as I would come back to her she would flap her arms and get all excited. I wanted to let her go in the swing, but the little girl one was broken so maybe next time. - k

New Face

Rylee has started making a fish face. She doesn't do it on command or anything but it is funny. She sucks those little cheeks in so hard that she squeaks. - k

This is a toy, right....

Since Rylee was about 3 months she has not taken a pacifier and we keep trying to get her to take it instead of her thumb, but now it has become a great toy. She loves to stick it in her mouth and pull it out and then stick it in my mouth and pull it out, it is all one big game to her. At least we are getting some use out of these! - k

I Can Do It

Rylee loves to play in the exersaucer and she continues to discover everything it can do. Recently she learned how to turn the pages on the little book attached to the exersaucer, and when she finishes she gets so excited.

Feeding Herself

Rylee had waffles and peach puffs for dinner last night. She seemed to like it a lot, but 2 hours later I was wearing it, maybe she ate a little too much! :) - k

Sippy Cup

We have been working with Rye on a sippy cup and tonight at dinner she started to do it on her own. - k

Big Blue Eyes

Some days Rylee's eyes are just bigger and bluer than ever and today was one of those days. Every time I looked at her they were so beautiful, so I started snapping some pictures. This last picture is just a funny look I caught, it made us laugh. - k
