Nolan's 2 Month Check-up

Nolan is trying his best to catch up to Rylee is size, he is a big boy. At his appointment today he weighed 12 pounds 8 ounces (68th percentile) and was 23 inches (50th percentile). For those who are wondering at 2 months Rylee weighed 10 pounds 3 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches. The check up went great. Nolan has fully recovered from his RSV and ear infections. He is meeting his milestones. He is still struggling with head control, but Doctor Mumford said it is not to worry because it is a big head to hold! He gave the doctor a few smiles, but those quickly disappeared when the nurse came in to do his vaccinations. He got five vaccines today, 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine. I was surprised, he only cried about 20 seconds and then he was over it - tough little boy! Rylee loves to go to the doctor's office, so she always comes to his appointments. Today she found a book about wolves and read it most of the time.

Already Best Buddies

I sure hope this continues when he gets older and can move and really play with her, because she loves to be by Nolan and try to play with him. Tonight she sat next to him and talked to him, tried to get him to smile, and even played cars with him. She is such a good and caring big sister. She is always checking on him, and she gets so excited when he looks in her direction. She will announce, "mommy, he looking at you (she says you for me still, i love it)."

Papa Rick in Mexico

While in California Rylee decided that Papa Steve worked in a "Little Office" and Daddy had a "Big Office." Whenever we would talk about either of them she would inform us they were at either their Big or Little Office, so I taught her that sometimes Papa Rick works in Mexico. She then decided to add to it that Papa Rick worked in a "Little Office in Mexico." I tried to get her to say all three of their offices, but she was stuck on Papa Rick's office.

The Hiccups

I do not know what it is, but my kids have the hiccups so much. Nolan probably gets them 5-6 times a day, and Rylee still has them once a day at the minimum. The hiccups normally don't bother him, but when they last too long he really gets upset... but the extreme crying gets rid of them pretty fast!

Bumbo Chair

Nolan has really been liking to sit in the Bumbo Chair lately. He cannot quite hold his head up yet, but he is getting better. The one picture is sort of an funny angle but it was such a cute smile. Here is a comparison of the two kids both in Bumbo Chairs at two months. Nolan already looks significantly bigger than his sister was.

2 Months Already!

I cannot believe that yesterday Nolan was two months old. The first month did not go as fast because we mostly stayed home and visited with company and we were all adjusting, but this month has just flown by. From him being sick, to everyone in town for his blessing, to our trip to California his second month is all of the sudden over. He is still such a happy baby. He has brought so much joy to us and we are so grateful for him. He is a good little brother too. He lets Rylee love on him all the time, and he doesn't even cry! He is already wearing 3-6 months clothes (like this outfit thanks G&G)! Nolan's two month appointment is on Thursday, so we will see how big he has gotten.

Rylee and Baby Rye Rye

Rylee is very into babies lately. She has three or four around the house and is always carrying one. This one is named Baby Rye Rye, chosen by her! She gives them bottles, their binkies, and Grandma even made her babies a mini blanket just like hers.

First Time in the Hot Tub

While in California Nolan got to go in the hot tub for the first time. He loved the water, just like Rye. I think I saw him smile in the hot tub more than ever. I have a feeling that as the years go on my kids are going to be requesting Grandma and Papa's hot tub!

He is Smiling

Nolan has just started interacting so much lately, I love it. This morning Rylee and Grandma and gone to the grocery store, so Nolan had me all to himself and no one to bother him. I was just talking to him and tickling him, and he was giving the biggest smiles. This is such a fun stage he is getting to, I love the first smiles.

Now That Is A Bubble Bath

The Drive To California

We left for California on Friday at lunch time and the drive went so smooth. We were a little worried about weather problems, but we only encoutered those on the last two hours. It ended up taking a little longer than normal, but both kids did so well. Nolan slept most of the drive, waking to eat and then dosing back asleep. Rylee took a great nap at the start of the drive, but then did not sleep the last 8 hours, she was too excited to see Papa. We did not get to Papa and Grandma's house until 11:30 pm (12:30 am her time) but she was wired. The whole drive she would say, "I awake, I wait for Papa, I play monster." That is all we heard the last two hours as she was fighting to stay awake, it was so sweet and cute. When we got to the house, Grandma got her out of the car and she bolted for the back door screaming "I play monster," and she did. She and Papa played monster until 12:15 am and then they both were ready to go to sleep. This picture made us laugh because she looks like she is at the movie theater. She has her own seat, she picked the movie, she has her blanket, her snacks and even a drink, what more could a 2 year old ask for.

Special Grandma and Papa Time

Rylee loves her grandparents so much and it is fun to watch the special bond she has with all of them. When it stopped raining on Saturday Grandma and Rylee went exploring in the backyard. She got to feel the hot tub and the cold pool water, but first she had to make sure her baby was safely put down so she would not get wet. She and Papa have played lots of monster and they even took a bath together(swim suit for Papa). Papa has had to work lots, but they have still had lots of special time together. Nolan has just been snuggled lots by both Grandma and Papa.

So Much Family

Rylee and Nolan have had so much fun playing with all of their cousins, we have not gone a day without seeing one of them. Saturday everyone came to Grandma's house for dinner, and man it was crazy but it was fun. Rylee does so well with all of the kids. She is at a fun age where she can run and play with the older kids, but she still enjoys sitting and playing with the younger kids too. Nolan has been a trooper, letting anyone and everyone hold him. Each kid has also had special time with Aunts and Uncles. Thank you to Daddy for letting us stay and play here all week, we sure miss him though.

John's Incredible Pizza

On Monday we went to a fun restaurant with Travis, Tarah, Bryson and Lucas. John's Incredible Pizza has roller coasters and rides, lots of aracade games, and glow in the dark bowling. The food was prety good too. It is a full buffet of pizza, pasta, salads and desserts. Rylee was barely big enough to go on the one roller coaster (b/c her bow poked up!), she played lots of games, and had fun trying to bowl. Thanks for sharing a fun day with us guys.

Our Last Night With Granna and Double G

We cannot even list all the fun things we have done this week and all the laughs that we have had, but I know tomorrow morning when the little girl realizes these two are gone we will have some tears shed too. Our family has been so blessed to have them in our home, and we hope it is not another 14 months before we see them again!

Cousin Hair Cuts

Both kids were in need of a haircut, so we thought it would be fun to get them done together. Jayden had never been to Cookie Cutters, so it was really fun for him. Rylee loves getting her hair cut, she just has so much fun looking all around it is hard for the stylist to keep up with her wiggles. After haircuts the two of them looked extremely cute.

Nolan's Blessing

With the two kids being sick this week we decided it would be best to have Nolan's blessing in our home. Everyone met at the house this morning and we had the blessing followed by a delicious lunch! We are so lucky and thankful for the sacrifices family and friends made to attend. Everyone had fun seeing each other and Nolan and Rylee were spoiled with all their favorite people. The house was so full earlier, it is really sad that almost everyone is either back home or on their way already.

Big Tower and Monster

Grandma Michelle and Papa Steve got in town late Thursday night and by Friday when Papa got done working all Rylee wanted was to build a big tower with him and play monster. These two have such a fun and sweet relationship, it is really cute to watch. Grandma and Rye had some fun playing "This Little Piggy" and blocks too. It was great to have them here this weekend, because Rye came down with RSV too and she sure felt better whenever they were around.

Granna and Double G

Granna and Double G arrived on Wednesday and we have not stopped having fun. Rylee took a little while to warm up to the two of them because she has not seen them since Christmas 2007. After a very quiet car ride home, she got her blocks out and the three of them bounded over blocks. Lots of shopping, eating, playing and snuggling has gone on, and we are sad to say we only have one more day!

Coming Home . . . Again

It was a mere six weeks ago that we brought Nolan home from the hospital, and yesterday we did it again. He will be sick for awhile but the worst is behind us. He has been super happy baby all day today. He was 10 pounds 9 ounces when we left the hospital yesterday and 22 inches. We are so thankful for all the phone calls, emails, and text messages we received from family and friends checking on his progress. Also a big thank you to our friends who helped with Rylee.

Splashing in the Puddles

I forgot I had these pictures on the camera! When Matt went to St. George a few weeks ago Rye, Nolan and I went and ran some errands. On our way back to the car from one of our stops Rylee found a puddle to splash in and she had so much fun.

Sick Baby Boy

For the past few days Nolan has not been feeling well and then last night he started getting much worse. My fear with having a winter baby was all the germs and illnesses, and unfortunately my fear came true. Last night his breathing started to become labored and he was not eating, and this morning his breathing only seemed to be getting worse. We decided it was time to call the doctor when we looked up the symptoms of RSV and he had every single one of them. The doctor asked us to meet him at his office to be evaluated. The doctor sent us over to the hospital for a chest X-Ray and RSV screening, and they both came back with bad news. The X-Ray showed fluid in the lungs and signs of dehydration and the RSV screening came back positive, so they told us they were going to admit Nolan to the hospital. He is getting IV fluids, respiratory treatments, antibiotics for an ear infection, and is being taken care of by great nurses and doctors. It is just a lot of monitoring and waiting. We will be here for tonight and the morning for sure, but possibly another night too.
