Trick-or-Treating at Daddy's Work

This afternoon we got all dressed up and headed over to Daddy's work for trick-or-treating. The office does such a good job setting up games and handing out candy for all the kids, close to 300 of them. Rylee had so much fun going around and picking out candy and putting it in her bucket, the only problem, or course, was she wanted to eat all of it right away. We let her have one snickers!

A Tinkerbell Timeout

Rylee had a great time on Halloween, but she could not understand why she could not have more candy. You try explaining to a 2 1/2 year old that she has had enough sugar for one day, well that did not go over very well. She chucked a piece of candy at me and landed herself right in timeout. I thought she looked so cute with her face buried in the corner that I had to sneak a picture.

Handing Out Candy

Rylee thought it was a riot to hand out candy to everyone who came to the door. She liked it so much that she wouldn't even let me shut the door. Rylee would just stand in the doorway looking up and down the street for more people. This was okay until it started raining, so we would have a little meltdown every time the door would shut. However, when the doorbell would ring we would have the happiest Tinkerbell ever.

Somersault

Rylee has been practicing her somersaults lately and is making some progress, thought we would share.

Golf Course

Our Daddy has been working very hard lately and has had a few late nights in a row, so we decided we would join him for his afternoon golf round today. The three of us had such a good time. Rylee had not been to the course in awhile, so it was fun to see her out running around and chasing the golf balls and her Daddy. It was a great afternoon, topped off with a three hour nap for Rylee! I think the course wore her out.

Basketball Game

Last night Daddy got 5th row tickets to opening night, so we headed up to the arena for a fun night out. Rylee had a great time and was so excited. She understood that it was a good thing when the ball went into the hoop, but didn't get that she was supposed to clap for a certain team! She lasted until the middle of the fourth quarter, but thanks to the team mascot Rylee was a little shaken up and we just called it a night.

Tinkerbell

I let Rylee go to the Disney Store a few weeks ago and pick out her own costume, and she picked Tinkerbell. However, since the day we bought it she has not let me put the costume on her. Today I wanted to get some pictures taken of her in the costume, so with a little bit of bribery and convincing she did a great job. Here are the results of picture taking.

Baby's Bed

The other day we went and picked up our new crib, and ever since then Rylee has been obsessed with the "baby bed." Every time she walks up stairs or past his room she points to it and says, "Mommy, da baby bed!" She is getting very excited for the baby, I think! His room is starting to come along too. We had to get the new crib because the one Rylee had was safety recalled by the company, luckily it worked just fine for her. We still have our changing table from Rylee's room and it has been moved over and put into place, along with the diaper champ and his hamper. Missing from his room is the armoire. We had it in Rylee's room, unfortunately it did not survive the move from one room to the next, so we are looking for a nice dresser for him. I have a few ideas for his walls, but so far this is what his room looks like.

Rylee's Room

I finally finished Rylee's room this weekend. I didn't have much to do, but it was just one of those little tedious tasks that I kept putting off. She and I spent Saturday morning hanging and arranging things. The pictures in the frame are from when she was 6 months old, but I cannot bring myself to update them, I love them! She absolutely loves her new bed and her new room. Every time we are in there she points out her butterflies on the wall, her new lamp, her stuffed animals, and she her favorite thing is to just play on her bed. I have a few ideas for other things to do in the room, but no rush!

Last Christmas when Cousin Megan was here, Megan was so sweet to try and help Rylee with her vocabulary. Megan would ask Rylee, "Can you say..." and Rylee would do her best to answer. One night out of nowhere Megan asked Rylee, "Can you say gas station?" We were all a little confused as to where Megan came up with gas station, but needless to say Rylee could not say it. It has sort of become a family joke, Matt and I will randomly say to each other, "Can you say gas station?" The other day I was on the phone with Granna and she was talking about how she and Double G do the same thing, and I said to Rylee, "Can you say gas station," and she actually said it. I was a bit shocked, but we have been practicing it for a few days, so here it is. The first video is the original from last Christmas, followed by the new one.

And the Answer Is...

So, our Rylee is not much of a television fan, but occasionally she likes to catch moments of a few shows, one of those being America's Funniest Home Videos. She thinks the animals are hilarious and then goes crazy for anything with a baby. Tuesday we were watching and there was this baby playing in the bathroom, unrolling the entire roll of toilet paper onto the floor--an act that Rylee knows would land her in timeout! I was in the kitchen and I heard, "Uh-oh, Mommy," with a finger pointed at the TV, "the baby got timeout!"
So, thanks for playing! We got several other good guesses via phone and text-message, but the answer is:
"The baby got timeout!"

Can You Guess the Sentence?

Rylee is really starting to talk lately, but it is just hard for most people to understand. This is a sentence she is saying about something that happened on TV. There are four words, can anyone guess what she is saying? Leave a comment with your guess. I will post the real sentence Thursday!

Names

We are working on learning the names of the people in our family, and Rylee is doing really well. If your name is not featured in this video please be patient, she can probably say it already it is just her attention span is too short to sit and say all of them.

Bounce House

Scarecrow Days

After a morning of playing in the house we took the kids to Scarecrow Days Festival. We started at the bounce houses and we couldn't get Rylee or Avery out, Hank took some convincing that he really wanted to go in! Rylee cannot jump, so she would just run and flop into the wall or onto the ground, but had a great time. From the bounce houses and slides we went over to the hayride and that is where we noticed how sleepy the kids were getting. Rylee almost fell asleep on the hayride. Avery wanted to get her face painted so we took all the kids to get a little something. I asked Rylee and she said she wanted to, but once it started she threw a fit. The lady tried her best to get the ghost painted, but a screaming two year old does not make for an easy canvas. She is sleeping very soundly now after an extremely fun day.

Best Buddies

The last few weeks Rylee and Hank have spent a lot of time together, and they have become the best of buddies. Today we watched Hank and his sister while their mom went to a doctor's appointment and the two of them had a great time playing together. They shared fruit snacks together and each time they would put one in their mouth they would show one another!

Tiger Growl

Last week at Storytime Rylee was given this tiger mask to take home and make as a reminder of what they did that day. That evening she and Daddy colored the mask and taped on the handle, and without us even showing her what to do she started growling at us. Every time she finds her mask she picks it up and finds the nearest person to growl at.

"Chips & Tatah"

While I was finishing up dinner Daddy was having an appetizer of chips and salsa, and Rylee decided she wanted some too. At first she was just munching on chips, but in no time she was curious about the salsa. The first dip barely had anything on the chip, but by the time she was finished she was licking the salsa off of the chip. Daddy tried to put the salsa away once and Rylee quickly said, "More Tatah Daddy!" She is working on getting those S's out! The two of them had a good time snacking before dinner together.

First Snow of 2008

I think this is the earliest I have seen snow since I moved here seven years ago. I looked out the window around 4:30 this morning and saw a fresh blanket of snow on the cars and ground, and I couldn't believe it. Since I was up, because I haven't been asleep yet tonight, I decided to snap a quick picture. Maybe this snow and weather have something to do with my chronic cough that will not allow me to sleep, I sure hope both the snow and my cough go away soon.

Decorating Cookies

With the weather being so cold, I did not know if we were going to be able to leave the house today, so I planned to let the kids decorate sugar cookies. Luckily we were able to escape the house for a bit, and we were able to decorate this evening. I was really surprised at how well Rylee did with knife and spreading the frosting, she had a great time. The older kids were so excited to decorate and show off there finished product. Matt wanted me to let everyone know the "ugly" table is on its way out, the new one will be here in about 3 weeks. We will show new pics when it is here.

Playing With Cousins

Rylee has had so much fun playing with her cousins today. She and Trevor watched a movie together for roughly 2 minutes before they both moved on to something else! Trevor loves the Batman mask that Rylee got him for his birthday and he has even let Rylee try it on a few times. Kylie, not pictured here, has been overly loved by Rylee, who is quick to make sure Kylie has everything she needs and then some. Rylee and Alyssa had a fun time this evening playing with the car this evening. Rylee would push her around and the two of them would just laugh!

Princess Bed

Uncle Mark, Aunt Laura and Family are staying with us this weekend on there move back to California, so Rylee is being so nice and sharing her bed with Mark and Laura. This is the first time we have had company since we moved her into the bed, but she seems to be doing just fine with it. We took the crib mattress, since it is not in use yet, put it on our bedroom floor and then set her cute princess sleeping bag from Grandpa Rick on top of it. She slept all night there and is taking a great nap right now! Rylee is very willing to share her bed with anyone that wants to come visit!! Just a warning it is 42 degrees here today. :)

Library Storytime

For over a year now I have been meaning to take Rylee to story time and see how she likes it, and we finally made it today. Our library offers it four times a day for four days out of the week, so we might go back another day this week too. She did so well for her first time. She participated in the songs even though she didn't know the words, and she sat perfectly still for the stories, I was rather impressed. She would continually look over at me for confirmation she was doing the right thing! The theme today was Africa, so everything was centered around that. The stories were about Tigers and a little African girl whose mom had a baby, and the songs was all about the things in the world. At the end they played with the parachute and that was a major hit. After story time we sat around for thirty minutes and just looked at all the books and read a few, next time we will bring some home with us.

Please Don't Be A Sign

Today is the first true fall day, and Rye woke up sick this morning. I just hope that this is not a sign for the whole winter, I do not want snotty nose all winter long. Last year she was really healthy, so hopefully this year will be the same. I am hoping it was just a bug she picked up on the airplane! We have a very runny nose and a cough. She walks around with a damp washcloth so she can wipe her own nose, so grown up these days!
