Grandparents Day

We were so lucky that Grandma was here taking care of us still, because it was Grandparents Day at Rylee's preschool. She and Grandma made a craft and the kids sang a special song for their Grandparents. Rylee had a great time having Grandma at school with her.

Made Me Giggle

I was looking through the pictures Grandma Kathi had on her camera and when I came to this one I just started giggling. It is so cute I couldn't help but post it.

Going to the Airport

One of Rylee's favorite things to do lately is take pretend trips on the airplane to visit our family and friends. The other night she had gone upstairs to play and it had been awhile, so I asked her what she was doing and she said "packing." Soon after she came downstairs all loaded up and ready to go to the airport. She had lots of bags and toys with her and they were all very organized. One bag had baby stuff, her back pack had her clothes in it, another bag had dolls, one had shoes, and then others had different organized things. This was just the first of two loads she carried downstairs to go on the airplane to visit Papa. Her imagination is so fun right now, and I love playing with her.

Holy Cow, 21 Months

think I say this when every month goes by, but it is crazy how fast time goes and how big my boy is getting. Nolan is 21 months old today, and his second birthday is creaping up on us really soon, and I cannot believe it. He continues to be a blessing to our home every single day and I cannot think a day have not almost cried laughing at how silly our boy is. He absolutely loves his big sister, but he also knows how to pester and annoy her already when he needs to. Nolan is one of the most agile 21 month olds I have ever met. He can jump, climb, spin, run, and do anything physically active too well for his age, and he practically gives me a heart attack at least once a day being a dare devil. His vocabulary is growing every single day and it is so fun to watch him and Rylee talk to each other. I cannot believe how much he changes each day, but we are excited to watch Nolan continue to grow and develop.

A Few of Nolan's Many Faces

Nolan is growing up so quickly each day. He talks more and more and he makes lots of silly faces. He is a great mimic. The other night he was being silly for Grandma and these are a few of the pictures she got.

"Brrrrrr"

"Cheese"

"Where's Your Tongue?"

Daddy and Rylee

This is a picture from the first day of preschool for Rylee without Mommy going, such a cute little booger. Her teacher makes the kids a Preschool t-shirt and asks the kids to wear it on the first real day of class. Well the smallest size she has is Youth small, so it is a little big for us, so we made it into a dress with leggings. I love my little munchkin and she looks so cute for her first day of class.

Uncle Scott

Nolan had a great time playing with Uncle Scott and becoming his good buddy. We asked Nolan who is best friend was and he even said, "Dot!" We got a few cute pictures of the two before Scott had to head back to school, and we were even able to pull Rye away from her friends long enough to snap a picture of her too. We are so lucky that Uncle Scott game to visit too because the kids love him so much and he is a terrific Uncle!

So Cute Even In Time Out

Hungry Hippos with Papa Rick

Over Labor Day weekend Papa Rick drove up with Grandma and Uncle Scott to visit and hanging out with the kiddo's. We hadn't seen Papa Rick and Uncle Scott since Christmas so it was terrific to see them. The kids had a great time playing with Papa Rick. They both got special walks and adventures with Grandpa, and they even had a friendly game of Hungry Hippo's together.

My Excuse

I know everyone has an excuse as to why they have not updated their blog, but this is mine:

My surgery was 2 weeks ago tomorrow and I you would think I would have all the time in the world to blog, but with helpful fingers from children, a computer breaking, some really good drugs, etc, and I have not been on the computer too much. But, luckily Grandma has had her camera out so we have some good pictures to update.

First Day of Preschool

Yesterday was Rylee's first day of preschool. This is her second year of preschool so she was extremely excited to start school again and meet her new friends and teacher. She was a little bothered because for the first day of school the teacher does Parent/Child activity to get the kids all comfortable with Mom/Dad at school with them. Well, little miss did not think that was very cool and actually asked the teacher why her mom had to come with her. She goes again tomorrow all by herself, so that should make her very happy.

"Mommy, Nolan Is So Pretty"

Last week I was cleaning bathrooms, and while I was in a different bathroom the kids were playing in my bathroom. I knew they were in my room, but I did not know exactly what was going on. So, when I got to a good stopping point I went to check on my mischevious children, and as soon as I walked in the room Rylee said, "Mommy, Nolan is so pretty!" It was at this point that I realized for the last few minutes Rylee had been doing Nolan's make-up, doesn't he look great?

The Nasometer a.k.a. Rylee's "Princess Phone"

One of Rylee's biggest problems with her speech is her nasality, which means a lot of the air escapes through her nose instead of her mouth when she speaks, giving her a nasally voice. The Nasometer is a machine the speech therapist uses to measure the amount of air that is coming coming out her nose. When she talks into the machine it then makes "castles" on the computer monitor, and the smaller "Polly Pocket Castles" are the best. If she makes a big castle it means that the sound is coming out of her nose. The first time she used the Nasometer she was a little nervous, but as soon as Miss Courtney described it as a "Princess Phone" and she saw how to make the castles on the screen she was fine with it..

She did a pretty good job on the machine today. It is fun to see her begin to understand that the air is coming out her nose instead of her mouth, and I can actually see her focus and make the air come out her mouth. I am so proud of my girl and how well she is doing, I cannot wait to see the development over the next few months.
