The End of A Long Day

We had a lot of errands to run and the kids were so great while we were out, but definitely worn out by the time we were home.

Practicing Her "V's"

Rylee has been learning how to write her letters at preschool and really enjoys doing it at home too. V is not one of the letters that they have learned yet, but she discovered yesterday that she could makes V's. We now have an entire book of construction paper covered in V's.

Nolan Thought This Was More Fun Than a Nap

An Evening of Golf

Not knowing how much longer we were going to have nice enough weather to make it to the golf course, we decided we better take advantage now. Rylee had a great time running around and hitting a few golf balls. When she focuses on what she is doing she hits the ball pretty well and gets really excited. Nolan loved being outside and chewing on the golf balls.

Nolan is 9 Months

On Wednesday Nolan turned 9 Months, so today we went to get his 9 Month photos. He did a great job and we got some really cute shots. When we got to the studio he was wearing his "Rangers" shirt, so the photographer suggested we take a few cute baseball themed photos. They turned out great, but they were a bit tricky to get a shot because Nolan kept chewing on the baseball.
With Rylee we were so excited for each stage of her life to come, that it seems like her first year of life did not go quickly, but with Nolan it seems like the first year is flying by. We are just as excited for each stage of life with Nolan, but we are busier than we were three years ago and it seems like with each blink of my eye he is developing more and more.

At 9 Months Nolan loves:
  • Feeding Himself
  • Pulling up on everything
  • Scooting along the couch
  • crawling everywhere and trying to master up the stairs
  • Babbling up a storm
  • playing peek-a-boo and "so big"
  • putting everything and anything in his mouth
  • banging toys together
  • hanging from the bar at My Gym by himself
  • the swing at the park
  • pestering his sister
  • trying to drink from a sippy cup
  • chewing on everything and drooling
  • giving himself his bottle
He is still toothless, but from the amount of drool I believe a tooth will becoming in the next few weeks. He is extremely happy and content. Nolan is very independent even at 9 Months. He does not like to snuggle and rock before bed, just get him ready and lay down. He plays with his toys great and can entertain himself. He hates to get dressed, hold still for me to change his diaper, and to be alone in a room.
Nolan thank you for the smiles and the happiness you bring us.

So, It Has Begun...

In my opinion it is a little early for the cold, flu and infection season to be here, but somehow it is. This afternoon was a bit dramatic around these parts, but luckily we all made it and still love each other. After preschool Rylee came home and started complaining about her ear hurting, so I gave her a little Motrin and put her down for a nap. Nearly 3 hours later she was still screaming and complaining, so off to see Dr. Mumford. It is hard to know if she is serious or if she is just overly tired, but it is a good thing we went in. She has a pretty serious ear infection in the right ear and the start of an ear infection in the left ear. Dr. Mumford gave her some antibiotics and she has been perfectly fine since we went to see him.

Fall Day at the Park

Rylee was a little cranky yesterday afternoon because she did not want to nap so we headed over to play at the park. Rylee asked me before we left if Cohen could come, so we invited them along too and they were happy to join us. It was a pretty chilly day yesterday, but the kids had a blast.
I love the Fall weather and having them all bundled up. Nolan looks so big in his jacket and jeans.

Afternoon at the Zoo

I heard on the news a few weeks ago there was a baby elephant at the zoo, and I thought Rylee would love to see it (and I really wanted to also) so this afternoon we went. Caity was nice enough to come with us and help take pictures and be Rylee's zoo buddy. At first I had only heard about the baby elephant, but there was also a baby giraffe, 3 baby tigers, and a baby snow leopard. The baby elephant was the first baby animal we saw today. Baby Zuri and her mommy walked right in front of us and Zuri even splashed in the water. Then we saw a few other animals and then it was lunch time. At lunch Rylee was quite the chip stealer, she actually hid Caity's chip bag in her lap once when Caity was looking at the penguins. After lunch we went to see Baby Jamal, the giraffe. Rylee was pretty annoyed that he was napping, and kept yelling at him "Jamal, wake up!" Then it was off to see the baby snow leopard, and he was laying down but had his head up so we got to see him really well. The three baby boy tigers were hard to see and get a picture of because they were up napping in the shade with their mom, but Rylee was satisfied with seeing the big tiger. Rylee then took Caity on the carousel at the zoo, and then to the gorillas. The final stop of the day was the zoo train, and then the car where two kids were sound asleep very fast.

Nap Buddies

The last few days these two have become the best nap buddies, and I don't think Daddy is complaining at all.

Feeding Himself

Recently Nolan has started to feed himself and it is great. I love to put him in his chair and let him snack on a few things until I can feed him a meal. So far he has tried and likes: avocado, banana, Cheetos, bread, watermelon, meat sticks, Gerber puffs, Gerber yogurt melts, pretzels, gold fish, diced apples, and diced carrots. He does not have any teeth yet so we have to keep the food choices to things he can gum. He looks like such a big boy doing it all by himself.

Ball Pit

This afternoon we went to Free Play at the gym and we were so lucky because we were the only ones there - the entire gym to ourselves. Rylee didn't know what to do, she was running around from the tramp, to the monkey bars, back to the tramp, across to the ball pit, it was so stinking cute. Normally the ball pit is a little too wild to let Nolan go in it, so today I stuck him in and he loved it. He also hung from the bar today all by himself and was belly laughing the entire time he was hanging. I don't have a picture of him hanging (I was making sure he did not fall!) But maybe next time I can get a picture of it.

Great Grandma Dorothy

Recently my grandmother moved from California to Utah to live in an assisted living center and luckily it is nearby so we can stop by and visit her. Rylee loves going to visit her, and Nolan likes to check out the new scenery. For some reason I have never taken a picture of Rylee and my grandma, so the other day I took one with her and both kids.

Rylee's First Day of Preschool

Last Thursday we had Rylee's Preschool open house, and everyday since then she has been asking when she got to go to school, well today was the day. She woke up and got dressed right away, and then was got to play with Papa and Grandma for a little bit, and then it was time to head to school. I tried my best to get a few pictures of her before we left school, but the sun was bright, and she kept walking to the car to get in. But we did get a great shot of her with her new teacher. Nolan and I dropped her off and were quickly told by Rylee to "get out and come get her later." It amazes me that she is already old enough to be going to preschool, but I am excited for her and the time I get to spend with Nolan now.

The Bumpy Slide

At our park there is a slide that has bumps all the way down it and recently Rylee has been going down it, even though it hurts her little bum every single time.

Swing Fun

This evening while Daddy and Papa were watching college football Grandma and I took the kids to the park. When we first got there Grandma and Rylee had a great time swinging together, and then it was Nolan's turn. Tonight was his first time in the swing and he loved it. He giggled the entire time he was in it, and all Rylee wanted to do was push him. He had a great time, and we will be going back soon.
