Frosty the Snowman

This morning we woke up to a bit of snow, not too much, but just enough that we could build a little snowman.  The kids wanted so bad to go out and play, so after breakfast we bundled up and built a snowman.  They were so good to help gather snow and help build the snowman.  Rylee went in the hosue and found a carrot so we had a nose, Nolan helped my find sticks for the arms and rocks for the nose.  They were both bothered I hadn't given him a mouth, so I had to make one out of a stick.  We started taking a picture and Nolan thought Frosty needed a hat, so he donated his to Frosty.  We had a great time.

Festival of Trees

We made our annual trip to Festival of Trees last Friday! The kids are normally more excited to see Grammy Valerie then they are the trees, but luckily they let me look for a few minutes. We went with our best friends again this year and had fun! The gingerbread houses were a huge hit with the kids, and my kids really liked seeing the tree decorated for a soccer player they know. To end our fun time we made a stop to see Santa!

Megan and Rylee

These two girls are so much fun to watch together. They have been great buddies since they were little, and they still have a blast together. From the moment Rylee and Megan got together this trip until we left they had a great time! They played a lot of American Girl dolls together, colored and colored and colored, rode bikes, and had slumber parties. I feel lucky my kids have such great friendships with their cousins.
For Christmas we let the girls pick out presents for each other at the American Girl Store. It was fun to see them try and decide what to get with so many different choices!
Rylee has asked me several times since we got home when does she get to play with Megan again, and i tell her hopefully soon!!!!

Connor and Nolan

We spent Thanksgiving week in Dallas visiting with Matt's family, and we had so much fun.  One of the best parts of all our visits is watching these cousins play as though they hang out every day.  Nolan and Connor had lots of fun together last Christmas when they came to our house, but this year they truly were best buddies.  I loved watching them play dinosaurs together, build train tracks, and just be boys.  They are two months apart and I hope this is a lasting best friendship that they are forming.
One day they got to have a Daddy and son day together, and this picture is on the swing at Grandma's after they went to the Children's Museum together.

Nolan's most favorite part, which I didn't get a picture of, was picking apples out of a tree!

Pumpkin Patch

Last week Rylee's class took a field trip to the pumpkin patch, and I'm still not sure what was more exciting riding a school bus or the actual field trip! But, all week she wanted to go back as take Nolan to the pumpkin patch, so on Saturday the whole family went! The kids had so much fun! They went on the big slide, they played in the corn box, try raced ducks on water slides, we went to the petting zoo, we did the corn maze and the hayride, and most of all we had a blast all together!!!

Silly Sleeping Nolan

Every night it is a different position, but tonight I found Nolan in the most rare sleeping position yet! We often find him upside down, side ways, in the crack next to the wall and even on the floor but tonight topped them all:

Someone Needs His Own Tent

Nolan loves making forts and playing in tents, maybe for Christmas he will get a boy one so he doesn't have to play in the pretty princess one!

Collecting Leaves

Last week Nolan learned about the leaves changing colors and he wanted to go collect some. He called Grandma after school and asked if they could go collect leaves together when she was here this past weekend, so we went! The kids has so much fun finding all the different colors and walking "in the mountains.". There are so many beautiful places so close to our home, we are truly blessed!

Our Puzzle Builder

Recently Rylee had really enjoyed building puzzles, we will probably need to get more if she keeps it up, and the other day she built all of our puzzles. She sat at the table and built one after another and was adamant that I did not come help her or check on her!

One Last Swim

Rylee finally got her ear unpacked and was allowed to get we ear wet again, so we had to go swimming one more time. Shannon was nice enough to let the kids swim in her pool for awhile last Friday afternoon, she even heated up extra warm just for them! The kids had a blast and I was happy to see how well they were swimming still!

State Fair

I have never really been a big Stare Fair attendee, but we went last year and it was a blast. So, of course we did it again this year. The kids love every minute of it. We headed to the fair as soon as school was out with our dear friends Maddi and Nicole. The girls got their face painted first and then it was off to go on as many rides as possible! The kids had an absolute blast, and have already asked to go again! Nolan was the ride king and wanted to go on every ride possible, so we did!

Rylee's Surgery

August 13th was the big day, Rylee's surgery to hopefully correct her ear. We have waited a few years to do this surgery because it requires moderate bed rest for one week following surgery, but Rye was ready to try the surgery. The surgery is a stapedectomy. The doctor went into her ear and removed her stapes bone, which is causing the hearing loss, and replaced it with a prosthesis that will act in it place. The surgery has a 93% success rate, so we are hoping this surgery works.

We had to be to the hospital at 6:00am to get ready for a 7:30am surgery. Rylee was referred to the Chief ENT of the U of U for this surgery because it is a rare surgery and very few surgeons actually preform the surgery. Dr. Shelton was great with Rylee and she really likes him. She was a bit nervous about the surgery and going back with the doctors, so the anesthesiologist let Rylee watch cartoons on his iPhone to help calm her down. The surgery took about an hour and fifteen minutes start to finish and the doctor said everything went perfectly! We stayed in recovery for about four hours and then headed home for a week of resting! We do not find out if the surgery was successful or not for four months, so until then we wait patiently!!
