Last Day of Kindergarten

Thursday was Rylee's last day of kindergarten, I cannot believe how much has changed in this one year. We started school wearing hearing aids, and she now requires no aids at all! She was not reading going into kindergarten and now reads at a third grade level, and comprehends at the same level as well. She can add numbers up to 20 and her spelling is coming along great as well! I cannot believe the changes this amazing little girl has gone through in a short 9 months. I am excited to have my little sidekick back for 3 months and then she starts 1st grade!

Rylee's First Fun Run

Rylee's school had it's annual fun run and field day on Friday and she did great! The kindergarteners had to run 1 mile and she made it! She had run 4 laps and had 1 left when her teacher told her it was okay she could be done. She and her teacher went to get a Popsicle and her teacher got stopped by a parent and Rylee left her side. We were at the school so she wasn't worried, she figured she went to get I popsicle, but when she looked for her she found her running her last lap to finish! She told her teacher "I wanted to finish, I knew I could!" (such a proud mom moment). She had a blast at field day and got to play all kinds of games and it ended with the fire truck coming and spraying all the kids down!

Park City

For Memorial Day we couldn't decide where to go, so we stayed home and did all the fun things by our house! We spent all Sunday in Park City. We did everything we could at Park City mountain resort, and had a blast doing it! The kids fell in love with the harness trampolines that help you bounce high and both of them mastered the back flip by the time we left! The alpine slide and the coaster were also big hits, but neither kid enjoyed the climbing wall! We finished the day with a delicious dinner and dessert from rocky mountain chocolate factory!!

Build a bear

For Rylee's schools fun run, they were asked to collect donations for the school, and she collect the 4th most in the whole school and won a prize. She picked out a gift card to build a bear workshop, and since she didn't have school last week she and I went while Nolan was at school yesterday. She picked out the cutest puppy and named it Bella. She dressed her in a happy birthday shirt because it is almost her birthday. She also put a scent in Bella so Bella smells strawberry fresh all the time!!

First Day at the Water Park

We love the local water park by our house, and the kids have been dying for it to open for the summer, so opening day we are here! It is barely 73 degrees and very windy, but we ventured out! Rylee thinks it is a little cold but Nolan is having a great time. We are excited to come many more times, but we would like it to be a little warmer before we come again.

Fun Day In Park City

We took the kids to Park City to ride their bikes and have a picnic at the park! They did awesome on their bikes. The two of them probably rode their bikes about 3 miles and we only had a few minor falls by Nolan! Nolan only learned to ride without training wheels two days ago and did amazing! Rylee is still adjusting to her bigger bike and did great! After bike riding we went to one of our favorite parks and ate lunch! The kids played at the park for a bit and then we came home.

Celebrating Rylee

We had been trying to come up with a way to help Rylee understand the significance of her hearing surgeries, and we decided to throw her a little party with some friends.  Last night we invited a few friends over who have helped us the most along the way with her surgeries.  The night was fabulous.  We really think it helped Rylee realized this is a lot bigger deal than she had originally thought.  We had delicious desserts to celebrate the evening with great friends.  We were even able to plan it so Grandma Michelle was able to join us!  After everyone had left we were able to give Rylee a gift that we had gotten her.  She absolutely loves listening to music, but her hearing aids often hinder her ability to wear head phones comfortably and we would all get to listen to her rock out!  So, we got her an iPod and a nice new pair of headphones, she is in heaven!!

No More Hearing Aids, Ever!

Rylee had her last hearing test after surgery, and her surgeon cleared her to never wear hearing aids again!  When we started all of this her hearing averaged around 50 decibels, normal is under 25, and at certain pitches she was as low as 75 decibels.  At yesterdays appointment she tested at 13 decibels!  Her hearing is even better than normal!  We couldn't be more excited and grateful with these results.  The life long affects of this are not even comprehensible for Rylee, but we know that they are enormous.  This will have an impact on every aspect of her life, and we cannot even put into words the gratitude we have for the miracle.  Rylee has been such a trooper through all of this.  We know there is a long road ahead of her to adjust to hearing so much, but how amazing is it that we have to worry about her hearing too much now!  There are a lot of things that make people think there are not miracles anymore, but this is truly a miracle!  It is truly truly a miracle that our sweet little girl can have normal/perfect hearing now!

Nolan's Birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's

Nolan celebrated his 4th birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  He got to have Cousin Trevor have a sleepover for his birthday, and they had so much fun together.  When Nolan woke up he opened his presents from Grandma and Grandpa, Jake and the Neverland Pirates Toys!  Later that night all the family came over for dinner, presents and cake!  Everyone got Nolan cute Jake toys, and then we had a pirate cake.  Nolan was so excited to celebrate his birthday with his cousins!
